The Callis brothers, Eli and Evan, have always loved nature, gardening, camping and homesteading and have both dreamed of turning their families 6.5 acre property into what it once was long ago, a farm. Alana, Eli's life partner, moved down to Ohio from New York in 2020 to start their family and the next generation of Callis' on this beautiful property with them; bringing her experiences as a small business owner and artist with special interest in floral design. Evan Callis has a background in maintenance working for a local greenhouse for over 10 years. His girlfriend, Anastasia, works at Scott's and both of them have extensive knowledge in plants and soil health. Eli Callis has always had a passion for gardening, growing food and canning.
Eli and Evan both have a love for flowers like their father and both grandmothers did, who all had beautiful flower gardens they admired growing up. Eli and Evan's living grandmother, Barb, is a Master Gardener who grew roses and dried flowers in her basement; she also took interest in floral design, learning how to make bouquets. Alana and Eli both love to explore homesteading together, making apple cider vinegar from apples in the orchard, crafting herbal remedies and canning vegetables from their garden and Alana's Sicilian grandmothers' pasta sauce from various homegrown tomatoes. Alana grew up with a family of green thumbs who also loved gardening and flowers. Alana once aspired to become a trained florist but instead pursued a career in Massage Therapy/Holistic Health and became a Soap and Candle Maker.
Life has come full circle with us coming together with our passion for health, healing, gardening and flowers. We started planning to start a farm and homestead and one day, Evan proposed the idea of starting a flower farm. Drawing on all of our interests and experiences, it seemed like the perfect fit to us. So, in early 2022, we put together a business plan, seed orders and started working on transforming the front two acres of the property into a farm. We had our first successful season and learned a lot about farming. We are so excited to offer a permanent flower and veggie stand and give people the opportunity to invest in our farm each season with us through our flower CSA. Our future goals are to host events and have the bloomery be a place people can come visit and pick their own flowers and build their own bouquets! We are so excited to share our journey with you and are grateful you found us! Happy Planting!
